We have been busy harvesting the potatoes we planted last session. It was lots of fun scrubbing them and using them to create different snacks in nursery. We have been learning about hygiene routines when preparing food. Using peelers and knives has also given us the opportunity to use real utensils and we have learned about how to use them safely.
We enjoyed mashed potatoes with different toppings. We also made delicious soup using some of the other vegetables we have grown.
The children have had lots of fun and have learned so much that we will be putting our skills to good use and developing or interests in cooking throughout Autumn. Lots of family members have offered to help out and we look forward to making scones, cakes and pizzas. Yum yum!

Fun at the Gym!
A coach from Strathgryffe Tennis Club delivered tennis lessons during the month of September. The children had fun developing their co-ordination and teamwork skills through fun games and activities.
We Are Artists
Hope’s mummy is an artist and she has kindly given of her time to work with small groups of children. They have loved learning how to use the pottery wheel and are looking forward to making Christmas decorations.
Hike Around Houston
We have been learning about our community. Katy’s mum provided us with some architects drawings. These inspired the children to draw local buildings and use various construction materials to replicate buildings including Houston and Killellan Church and The Carrick Centre.
On Wednesday 23rd October we used maps to help us locate various landmarks in Houston. We even popped into the Post Office to buy stamps for some letters the children wanted to send.
