SEPTEMBER 2022

This month we have been discovering and investigating shapes within our environment. Outside we have been talking about the different shapes we can see in our garden. We have been exploring the properties of 2D shapes talking about how we identify different shapes. Inside we have been looking at the variety of shapes in our block area, there are many opportunities to explore many 3D shapes in a variety of sizes.

Some of you may have been greeted with your child’s models at collection times, our junk modelling area has been extremely popular, the children have loved designing their creations and bringing their plans to life. This again has provided many opportunities to explore a variety of shapes and provoked a lot of discussion.

We have created a sewing and weaving area within our playroom, some of the children have enjoyed the opportunities again to create their own designs and have been making clothes for a variety of figures in the nursery.

Our baking area continues to be popular as the children enjoy daily opportunities to bake or make something, often this incorporates crops from our allotment with the children suggesting ideas of things to make.

August 2022

Welcome back to all of our returning children as well as our new recruits. August has been a very busy month as we have settled back into our new routine. We had many children return for another year of learning new skills and having fun along the way.

This month we have been been busy building new relationships getting to know new friends and the adults in the EL&CC. The children have been getting to know our routine and have had the opportunity to explore both indoors and outside.

Outside we have been continuing to harvest some of our vegetables that have been growing since last term, we have been transferring our crops into our baking area where we have been coming up with a variety of ideas of things to make and bake.

Something very exciting also happened...we finally welcomed our families back into the building, after a long break. I am sure you will agree it has been a great opportunity to speak with your child's keyworker as well as other members of staff. I am sure you have enjoyed seeing what your child does first hand whilst dropping them off.
